Hue City: The fourth edition of the FFAV (Football for All in Vietnam) Cup 2016, a grassroots festival, have recently been held in Hue City, Vietnam.

A total of 3,490 children took the opportunity to play football as well as to get exposed to life and football skills in the two-day event held in eight venues.

Some 1,140 matches were organised on the pitches, as well as activities with messages about protecting the environment and traffic safety.

Nguyen Xuan Lua, principal of the Huong Toan Primary School, was happy with the participation of his school sponsored by a company.

“I got to know a company called Quang Thong,” Lua said. “They decided to sponsor football shirts for the children.”

Lua further explained the school’s strategy in fundraising to maintain such activities for the children at school. To him, creating this opportunity for the students was a joy and helped sustain his school’s football clubs and their activities.

Football for All in Vietnam (FFAV) is an NGO established under a collaboration between the Vietnam Football Federation and the Norway Football Association.

The NGO has successfully contributed to grassroots football development in Hue City and its successful model is in the process of being applied in all provinces of Vietnam under an agreement with the Vietnam Football Federation.
