Port Dickson: Asian beach soccer received a boost with a development seminar taking place in Port Dickson, Malaysia aimed at empowering coaching instructors to take the game to a higher level.

Eleven participants from Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Japan, Iran, Oman and China took part in the three-day seminar instructed by Switzerland’s Angelo Schirinzi and Marcelo Mendes of Brazil.

“Beach Soccer is a constantly developing sport, and at the AFC, we are committed to offering our support and services, and this seminar is yet another initiative towards this cause,” said AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Development Ali Targholizadeh.

“I would like to thank FIFA for appointing the speakers for this seminar which will benefit beach soccer development in Asia. I am confident that all the participants will take advantage of this seminar and will help improve our game in the next international competition.”

The course delved into various areas of beach soccer coaching such as coaching methods and processes, physical and mental preparation, warming up, technical and functional training drills, the planning and coaching of a training session and the laws of the game.

The seminar will run until April 28.
